History:
Elmer by Swany, Founded 1893, Gloversville, Upstate New York
When it comes to gloves, few brands have as much history as Elmer. Our story starts all the way back in the late 19th century, when keen craftsman Elmer Little moved to the aptly-titled city of Gloversville in Upstate New York to hone his trade as a glove maker.
Previously called ‘Stump City’, this small settlement in the Mohawk Valley earned its name thanks to its glove-making prowess—and was at one point known as the ‘glove capital of the world’. In short, it was the perfect place for Elmer to establish his brand, and in 1893, Elmer Little & Sons was born.
